Only top line, as you're trying to squeeze as much survivability for them as possible against all units, not just cavalry. They are practically VERY hard to kill for some reason, whether intentional or not, regardless using all available defense doctrines to your advantage will further reinforce their survivability. They can kill heroes pretty fast when single targeting, and you are meant to be pushing with them, ALWAYS being in cover commander so they get the cover commander buffs. You will be able to do damage alongside your unit in helping clear the way for your team. They do not need Stand Fast, just like ISGs, they provide the CCI themselves.

Reduces damage taken from cavalry charges by 500 points. Reduces damage taken from rear attacks by 20%.
Increases all defences by 130 points. Reduces damage taken by 6%.

100 points of ranged damage taken is converted to continuous bleeding. While bleeding, damage dealt and movement speed are increased by 15%.
